Princess Royal Trust
for Carers

December 2002
Dear Friend
Welcome to the www.carers.org email newsletter
for December 2002
Thank you very much to everyone who sent in
suggestions for conditions that we should have more information on. We
will try and get more information up as quickly as possible.
On site this month
Celebrity Chef James Martin has linked up with us
to find quick and easy recipes for carers sent in by carers. He has
given us some of his own to start off with. Click here to see what James
has to say, and please add your own recipes. There is a prize for the
best! Click here to read more www.carers.org/news/prtc-events.asp
Discussion Boards
On our discussion boards carers have been recently
been talking about: paying for care, carers being ill, and problems with
hospitals. Click on the link and have a look for yourself. www.carers.org/discussion/
Chat Room
One or two people have had problems with the chat
room, so my colleague Stephen and I will be in the chat room 8pm onwards
on 3rd December testing it. That's tomorrow! If you would like to join
us there and help you would be most welcome.
What has the Trust been up to?
We have been very concerned about the problems
some of you are having with your occupational therapists. So much so
that our Chief Executive Alison Ryan has had a meeting with the head of
the Occupation Therapists to find out what has gone wrong and how it can
be put right.
We should have the results from this meeting on
the site soon.
We are trying to get some ammunition to lobby the
government about the affects of caring on carers health. Please fill in
the anonymous survey here (it will take you about 5 minutes) and help
us. www.carers.org/how-we-can-help/help-documents.asp?dsid=646
We have been working with the Children's Society
to Produce a Good Practice Guide to working with young carers. This is
now published and is for sale at £14.95. If you would like to order
one, or just read more please go to www.childrensociety.org.uk.
Best regards.
Have a very happy Christmas!
