Rain was forecast, but mercifully it did not come for the 27 walkers who turned up to raise money for EPICS.  Some in fancy dress, some in their normal clothing, one in a buggy (!) they all nevertheless set off with great enthusiasm for the nine mile walk.  More details of how the day went, how much was raised, and some quotes from the organisers to follow.  Watch this space.....meanwhile enjoy the "rogues gallery" above!

Epilepsy Group sets up formally tonight, Monday 24 March at 7pm

This evening the ladies involved in the new Epilepsy Support/Action group for epilepsy are holding an official meeting in the Nerve Centre , Thurso (above the Cancer Research shop in the shopping precinct), where they hope then to have the first gathering of a new Committee.  Initially the meeting will discuss the value of being part of the Nerve Centre and its umbrella role as a neurological support organisation, and then it will agree the way ahead for the Epilepsy Group.  It is hoped that later a draft constitution will be discussed and office bearers elected.  Possible office bearers have already been identified but there will be a formal election to confirm any nominations, and further nominations will be welcome.

Anyone with an interest in epilepsy who would like to know more , is warmly invited along.  There will be refreshments served when the formal business is over.

Please come along and lend your support to a condition that has for too long remained "in the shadows".

Epilepsy Group say "thanks" to their helpers and donors 14 March 2003

The ladies who have set up the epilepsy group hosted an informal evening (on Red Nose Day, of all days!) of drinks and nibbles (3) to say thank you to some of their many helpers at the recent Coffee Afternoon.  Jennifer Nicol (2) said a short speech of thanks to those present, announcing the final total raised as £648.  She invited guests (1,4) to have a look round the Nerve Centre and sign the visitors book.  An impressive spread, provided entirely by the group, was thoroughly enjoyed by guests.

Successful launch of Epilepsy Group 20 February 2003
