TAKE ACTION
===========
In the recent UK government reshuffle, a new minister with
responsibility
for long term medical conditions (including epilepsy) was appointed.
Dr
Stephen Ladyman MP has replaced Jacqui Smith at the Department of
Health.
Epilepsy Action is urging people in the UK to tell Dr Ladyman how
inadequate
services currently are and how much more than what is included in the
recent
Government Action Plan is needed to be done by the government - both to
improve to the level of services for the hundreds of thousands of people
with epilepsy in England, and to reduce the number of potentially
preventable deaths from epilepsy occurring each year.
Find out more about the Action Plan and Epilepsy Action's response,
along
with contact details for Dr Ladyman, at http://www.epilepsy.org.uk/action

BEA-CONNECT
=============
If you would like to chat to other people about your epilepsy, why not
join
our online community - BEA-Connect?
There are thousands of postings covering a wide range of epilepsy
issues.
You can also make use of the other features like he electronic diary to
record your seizures, or email other community members.
Membership is free, and if you are a member of Epilepsy Action you can
sign
up online now!
What the members think...
"I am not so glum about it. I feel happier in general, because
there are
people I trust to talk with very openly. If I am depressed people are
very
encouraging. When I am having a particularly bad time of it they help me
realize that I will come out of it and feel better later. I have
acquired
two e-pals from BEA-Connect with whom I exchange notes almost every day.
When I need an opinion informed by experience they are there, and that I
can
be there for them helps me find value in my experiences in living with
epilepsy. My self-esteem is enriched and the lurking and skulking
dreaded
seizures shrink in size a bit."
For full details about the community and membership details, please take
a
