The Nerve Centre is a community based facility set up
by a voluntary group, Scottish Charity SC030192, called the Neurological
Group. It started life as an alliance of local neurological support groups
and eventually became a charity in its own right in May 2000. The same
year the Group was offered the premises now known as The Nerve Centre in which
to run an information and support centre for anyone affected by neurological
disorders.

Nerve
Centre is located in Highland Council owned premises above
the Cancer Research shop in the shopping precinct in
Thurso, Caithness,
Scotland.

It offers comfortable meeting area,
library/information area, kitchen, quiet room, office, toilets fully accessible
by wheelchairs, and a central location in the town.

The Centre is manned
entirely by volunteers.

Although the Centre was generously provided at a token rent by
Highland Council, all other funding has come from voluntary donations or by grant
applications.
